Vishal-Aditya is an award winning Indian musical duo consisting of Vishal Ramakrishnan and Aditya Ramkumar. Vishal and Aditya are the youngest musicians in India to have composed music for a movie during the latter years of their teenage. Vishal and Aditya are the only Indians to win the Global Peace song of the year award for their track ‘Bhalobasha’. They further went on to win the Akademia award for the same track.
The Change Anthem for the Rotaract Club was their first independent composition in 2014 and was sung by Haricharan, the renowned Indian playback singer. The single was released at the International Presidential Conference of the club, in the presence of the Rotary Governor. The song entered the Guinness Book of World Records for the Largest Human Chain Hi5. The duo bagged the Young Achiever Awards from the Rotary Council for this song. They made their Kollywood debut with the film ‘Gubeer’, a 2014 comedy cult film, released exclusively in Tamil Nadu. The soundtrack received appreciation from various media giants. The song ‘Un Manam’ from Gubeer topped the Saavn charts in February 2014.
The duo brings an interesting palette of musical talents and ideas to the table as their rich background in Indian and International music blend together. Vishal and Aditya have presided over and judged prestigious light music events and contests in Chennai. In early 2015, ‘Kannil Kannil’, a single by Vishal-Aditya was ranked #1 on Saavn for a month. The duo has several ad commercials and corporate projects to their credit.
Aditya was born in New Delhi in 1993. Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Senior Secondary School and Vivekananda College are his alma maters in Chennai. A stage performance at school motivated him to enroll himself at the prestigious KM Conservatory, an institute for higher education in music founded by renowned composer and the Academy Award winner A.R. Rahman. Aditya was trained in singing and composing at the KM Conservatory and was a core member of Rahman’s close Sufi ensemble for two years. He is also a certified Audio Engineer in Apple Logic Pro.
Vishal was born in Chennai in 1994. He did his schooling in PS Senior Secondary School, Chennai and graduated from Vivekananda College, Chennai. Vishal started learning to play the keyboard at the tender age of 6. As a part of his school band, Vishal actively participated in several events during his formative years. He is a certified keyboardist from Trinity College, London. Vishal is a trained sound engineer and has honed his skills in sound design and music production under Grammy winning engineers at the Garnish Music Production School, Los Angeles. Vishal has been training students on Music Production.
